My name is Kate Vander Wiede. I am 22 and I moved from beautiful Boulder to the city of Boston recently–in August 2009. I may have a technical background, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, but I am pursuing a different kind of career–one of a writer.
Life in Boulder was full outdoor adventure: slacklining, highlining, skydiving, hiking and fitness bootcamp. Life in Boston has been a different kind of adventure: dealing with unemployment, finding part-time work, completing an internship, tweeting my heart out, living with my boyfriend.
Speaking of, my boyfriend will be called Mr. Med. He’s enrolled in an intensive pre-med school graduate program, and we have been together since December 2008. I’m head over heals for the guy.
I love the new experiences I’m having in Boston, but aren’t always easy. This blog is a record of my life, my thoughts, and my adventures and a portal into how a girl in a new city and new industry makes it work (or at least that’s how I imagine Tim Gunn would describe it).
Feel free to let me know which one of those you think. This blog is for me, but it’s also for you.

Wonderful words. Keep writing!
Thanks for the encouragement! And thank you as well for reading!
